HAINES, Rose Alima – 86, Little Dover, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2013, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Little Dover, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Annie (Sampson) Horne of Little Dover.
Rose worked at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in her early years, Canso fish plant, as well as janitor of Little Dover School. She was involved with the Seniors Social Club and past member of the St. Anne Society. Her favorite pastime was watching the birds and playing bingo.
Rose is survived by her children, Lorraine (Carl) Mooring; Carmen Haines; Harold (Genesta) Haines; Georgina (Gordon) Hughes; Mary Jean (Frank) Rochon; Lois (Christian) Richard; Alfred Haines; Sally (David) Haines; Cindy (Tom) Keefe; Danny Haines; Kay Haines; Kim (Allen) Baillie; Clement Richard, Milton Ont; sisters, Cynthia Smith; Lucy MacDonald; brothers, Ambrose and Patrick Horne; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John Levi; daughter-in-law, Karen Haines; grandson, Dale Haines; sisters, Jessie MacDougall; Cleophas McKenna; brothers, Isaac Horne; Walter "Bud" Horne; Robert Horne and Louis Horne.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes Church, Little Dover. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
