HAYNES, Frederick Paul "Fred" It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Fred, 66, on Friday, October 2, 2015, in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care in Guysborough. Born in Canso, on August 24, 1949, he was the son of James and Ella (Morehouse) Haynes. Fred is survived by his sons, Paul and Evan (Katherine) and two granddaughters, Chelsea Marie and Olivia Ella; brothers, Dewey, North Bay, ON, Thornton (Genevieve), Charlos Cove; sisters, Nancy Rhynold, Halifax; Joyce Williams, Havre Boucher; Phyllis Hendsbee, (Bruce), Half Island Cove; Betty Talbot (Louis), Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Eileen Haynes; 14 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, James Haynes and brothers-in law, Arnold Rhynold, Reginald Williams and sister-in-law, Marlene Haynes.
Fred worked with the Department of Transportation and was a seasonal fisherman. He was an avid volunteer, hunter, athlete, guitar player, cook, card player and had a strong sense of community. Fred was integral in organizing the Guysborough Fish and Game Association Fishing Derby for numerous years. He organized the Shelley Haynes Memorial Ball Field in Boylston as well as the outdoor hockey rink. Fred was always the gracious host for the family gatherings where he cooked his special meals for his friends and family. He will be sadly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Guysborough Legion on Friday, October 9th from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Christmas Daddies. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
