HOLMES, Everett "Glenn" Alexander- Age 53, Mulgrave. We regret to announce the sudden passing of Glenn Holmes on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at home. Born in Antigonish he was a son of Eleanor (Murray) and the late Everett Holmes. Glenn graduated from Mulgrave Memorial School and then went on to graduate from Canso Regional Vocational School with a certificate in Automotive Mechanics in 1983. Glenn spent the last 30 plus years working in Port Hawkesbury. Glenn’s zest for life was apparent in all he did. He loved working with cars and trucks. He was a true Toronto Maple Leafs fan and he rarely missed a NASCAR race on television and he enjoyed going to weekly darts. He loved his home and spent tireless hours working and maintaining the grounds and taking care of his mom’s special needs. He will be missed by so many. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sharon (MacAskill) Holmes; son, Timothy, Mulgrave; daughter, Chelsey (Nick), Halifax; his mother, Eleanor Holmes, Mulgrave; sister, Darlene (Joe), Cambridge; mother-in-law, Dorothy MacAskill, Port Hawkesbury; sisters and brothers-in-law and many other family members. He was predeceased by his father, Everett; infant sister, Marlene; father-in-law, D.J. MacAskill; grandparents, aunts and uncles. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Following cremation a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Evelyn Knorr officiating. Burial in the family plot in St. Andrew’s Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Cemetery Fund or to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
