WRIGHT, Mary 'Louise' - 81, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Monday, May 23, 2005. Born and raised in West Bay Road, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Alexander Roderick ('A.R.') and Mary Ann (Chisholm) MacNeil. In her youth she attended Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish. A devout wife and loving mother, she will be remembered by her family and community for her many acts of kindness and generosity, and for her baking and knitting. For many years she was an active member of the Catholic Women's League, St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury. She enjoyed Cape Breton fiddle music and often played the piano in accompaniment. In recent years, she had been involved with Catholic bible study and charismatic groups and has been a supporter of the Strait Area Right to Life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Franklin; sons, Sandy (Viviane Landry), Port Hawkesbury; Edwin, Halifax; daughters, Jean Louise Wright-Popescul (Peter), Halifax; Mary Catherine Ahern (Garry), Fort McMurray, Alta.; brother, Stephen MacNeil, Antigonish; grandchildren, Tony (Denise MacDonald), Geoff (Jill Murphy) and Sarah Wright; Jennifer, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Stephen Ahern. She was predeceased by infant daughter, Sharon Anne; sister, Annie Chisholm (Arthur); infant grandson, Stephen (Sandy and Viviane Wright).
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Donations in memory of Louise may be made to Strait Richmond Health Care Foundation or St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery Fund.
