PILGRIM, Lewis George- 91, Port Hastings/Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born, January 26, 1919, in St. Anthony Bight, NL, he was a son of the late Emaline Dinney and Eliho Pilgrim. Lewis was a member of St. David's United Church, Port Hastings. He did some fishing for a period of time. He was employed as a power plant operator at St. Anthony, NL for the United States Air Force Station. He was also an engineer on the Hospital Ship and Government Survey Boat. He moved to Port Hastings in 1977 where he was employed as a mechanic at the Point Tupper Ship Yard. Lewis loved fishing, hunting, gardening and travelling. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Grace (Dorey) of 32 years; his children; stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters, Una MacAskill (Tony), Halifax; Effie Cooper, St. Anthony, NL; Ethel Mews, Mount Pearl, NL; brother, Maitland, St. Anthony, NL. He was predeceased by son, Douglas; stepson, Gary; sisters, Hazel, Lottie and Lou. The family would like to thank Dr. Bouchie, for his kindness and Dr. Collins; the nurses and staff of the Inverness Manor. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the great care and kindness he received while he stayed at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Their love and kindness shall never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. David's United Church, Port Hastings with Rev. Sheldon Le Grow officiating. Burial in St. David's United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings.
