STIRLING, Scott Marshall
Of Steep Creek in Guysborough County, Scott died tragically on the evening of Saturday, September 8th, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision at Auld's Cove. He was 47.
Born at Port Hawkesbury, Scott was a son of June (Grant) Stirling of Port Hawkesbury and the late Samuel Stirling.
A mechanic by trade, Scott completed his education at the Nova Scotia Community College, New Glasgow campus. At the time of his death, he was employed by Exxon Mobil as an Operator at its Point Tupper and Goldboro natural gas processing plants. Prior to that, Scott had spent many happy and fulfilling years with Exxon, working in a variety of capacities, many of which were in other countries and offshore.
A man of simple tastes and pleasures, Scott was happiest around the members of his family, especially his loving wife, Lesa MacPherson-Stirling and his cherished son, Marshall, aged 23 months. Scott was a man who liked a cold beer, a great bottle of wine, a good meal, lively discussion about just about anything, music, cars, his John Deere tractor, all other things mechanical and just hanging out with his numerous friends. He also loved the outdoors. But perhaps more than anything, Scott will be remembered by all who knew him as a good and decent man who always put others ahead of himself and who helped out whomever, whenever and wherever he could; and always with a smile on his face.
Besides his wife, son and Mom, Scott is survived by his, brother, Glenn (Sylvie) (Antigonish) and his sisters, Denise (Gavin Giles, QC) (Halifax) and Janine (Andrew Morrisey) (Dartmouth), a number of nieces and nephews, three God-children and his loyal furry friends, Charlie and Ichabod. Besides his Dad, he was predeceased by a brother, Craig.
As would have been Scott's wish, his remains have been cremated. A service in celebration of his life will be held in the Bear Head Room in the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre on the afternoon of Friday, September 14, at 3 p.m.
