LANGLEY, (MacLeod) Christine Elizabeth – 97, of Port Hawkesbury, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 22, 2013, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born on March 13, 1916, in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late John Murdock and Frances (Cullen) MacLeod. Mom lived her 97 years to the fullest. She was an avid reader, loved poetry and was known for her love of "winning" at the games of cribbage and back gammon. She was lovingly called "Nana Chris" by her grand and great grandchildren. She was happiest when one or all of them were in her presence. We were blessed to be able to have Mom live in her home until seven months ago because of the loving care she received from the "Home Care Angels" of Port Hawkesbury. Since then, she lived at Glen Haven Manor where she continued to receive excellent and loving care and for this we are forever grateful. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jean (Donald) Austin; son, John MacLeod (Anna Marie) Langley; brother, Cullen MacLeod; grandchildren, Bill (Heather) Austin, Phillip (Sharon) Austin, Andrew (Kim) Austin, Jean Austin, Iaian (Susan) Langley, Gordon (Sherry) Langley and Elizabeth (Bob) Langdon; great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Aaron, Daniel, Mairead, Brien, Olivia, Colin, Sarah, Katherine, William, Malcolm, Laughlin, John Ellis, Sophie, Marcy, Alistair John and Norah; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur J. Langley Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Tom Beauchamp and sister-in-law, Jessie MacLeod. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Burial in Southbrook Cemetery at a later date.
