KING, Albert Joseph – 70, Port Hawkesbury. The family of the late Albert Joseph King wish to announce his passing on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Point Tupper, Richmond Co., on October 10, 1942, he was a son of the late Edward and Laura (Embree) King. Albert was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Port Hawkesbury and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 of Port Hawkesbury. Albert was employed for many years in the hospitality industry as a desk clerk, waiter and cook. He was always willing to go the extra mile for the guests of the hotel. As a cancer survivor, he was always quick to volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society fund raisers, like the sale of daffodils and the luminaries. Albert loved to cook for his many friends and enjoyed a game of cards and being with family. He is survived by brothers, James (Helen), Port Hawkesbury; Walter (Florence), Rockdale; sisters, Geraldine (Arthur) Latimer, Arichat; Darlene (Buddy) MacLean, Brockville, Ont; also sisters-in-law, Annie, Port Hawkesbury; Marie, Evanston; and Doris, West Bay. Albert was uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many others. Albert was predeceased by sister, Catherine; brothers, Edward, Cecil, Leo, Carl and Earl. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
