YOUNG, Patricia Teresa – Lesterdale, Guysborough Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia "Tish" Young on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Born on July 29, 1920, to John P. Shea and Teresa (Kennedy) in Lesterdale. Upon finishing school, she went onto work in Moncton and Toronto and then returned to Guysborough to marry the love of her life, Ralph "Bud" Young. Having no children of her own, she chose to be a second mother and pour out her love and attention on her many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. When her parents became ill, Patricia tenderly cared for them. She was a long time member of the Ladies Aid Society of St. Ann’s Parish. She will be lovingly remembered for her wonderful sense of fun, her humour and her always welcoming kitchen table. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bud, sisters, Marguerite Phalen, Dorothy Williams; nephews, Jimmie Phalen, Claude Williams and Teddy Shea. She leaves behind her brother, Jackie Shea (Marion) and sister, Helen Sceeles, Toronto; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, on Friday, February 7, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of Milford Haven Nursing Home for the kindness and wonderful care Patricia received during her 5 years of residence. Family flowers only.
