McKEOUGH, Mary Isabelle "Belle"- 98, a long-time resident of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish and formerly of Grosvenor, passed peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2015, in the home. Born in Grosvenor, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Archie and Mary (McKeough) McKeough.
She lived most of her adult life in Halifax, where she was a successful entrepreneur and business woman, where she ran her own restaurant called Belle’s Diner in Halifax. Belle was known for her gracious welcome she extended to family and friends when they visited her in the city. The family of Belle would like to thank the R.K. MacDonald staff for their kindness and care they showed towards her.
Surviving are her son, Robert Joseph (Geraldine), Petawawa, Ont; grandson, Dallas (Krista), Barrie Ont; sister, Theresa Mattie, Mattie Settlement; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. Belle was predeceased by sisters, Vieta Burns, Stella McKeough, Grace Cameron, Irene MacGillivary, Matilda McKeough; brothers, Archibald and Joseph McKeough.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Antigonish Town and County Palliative Care Society. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
