To Jim, Helen, Mary and John David(the only brother Nancy needed); our sincere condolences and sympathy on Nancy's passing. As a young girl growing up a Red Wing fan in a den of Toronto Maple Leafs she faced untold adversity. This gave her the tenacity, fortitude and perseverance to pursue her career in journalism to the ultimate degree. Her upbringing speaks volumes to the young lady she became. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Helen/Gord Griffith

As a classmate and after several years a social media contact, or follower, I offer my condolences. I leave this note to share that Nancy became one of the most principled witty and insightful people I have known. I would have enjoyed meeting her in person decades later. Thinking of her dear friends and her.

Nancy's Family: My deepest condolences to the family. I was deeply saddened to read of Nancy's passing. Nancy and Mary came from a family I enjoyed knowing over my years in the classroom and as a resident of Port Hawkesbury. The beautiful crocheted pillows Mrs.King made were on our sofa for many years. Nancy's newspaper articles were always worth the read if you wanted to get the full picture. During this time I am not attending visitations but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending our love and condolences to Nancy's family. She always spoke so fondly of her sister and her family (in particularly her nieces) and her parents. We will never forget the music we loved together and all the amazing recommendations that Nancy made, because she had the most impeccable taste. We were honoured to have her stay with us when she made the trek out to Vancouver in 2012. She will be missed.

In your time of grief please know that many people are saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. I knew Nancy through many years of work in the Media as we crossed paths covering the same news stories. Then for many years we talked often as she covered health system stories and I was speaking as a source her news coverage. Good news on occasion and sometimes stories about difficult situations. As a reporter, Nancy was a skilled journalist. Always fair, firm, unpretentious and professional. As a person, she was respectful, and empathetic. The last time we met she was reporting on my retirement. It was her gracious and professional approach that convinced me to talk about a personal life choice. She nailed the story. I hope your personal stories and family memories and the thoughts of others help as you grieve and remember Nancy. Take care. Greg Boone. New Victoria

This is just heartbreaking news. Please accept my condolences on your loss. Nancy was a wonderful newswoman and a hard worker. We met while I was working for the Herald back in 2010 and remained friends on Facebook. She would always reach out if she sensed something was amiss and supported her friends fiercely. You didn't have to know Nancy for very long before it became clear how much she loved her family and I know she would feel sad to know how you're now grieving. I hope you can take heart in knowing how well-respected she was and loved by so many. Once again, I'm so very sorry.
