GILLIS, Gordon Archibald 'Gordie' - 66, Glendale, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Archibald and Winnifred (Fields) Gillis. Gordie will be missed by all his family and friends, but let the memory of him live on through the time he has spent with each of you. Gordie was a devoted husband, loving father and kind and gentle papa. Through the love of his grandchildren, Dad was able to beat the odds of a three year battle with cancer. They enabled him to keep hope alive and the sparkle in his eyes. He loved waking up every morning to make a phone call to each of them. He played lots of tricks, told funny stories, enjoyed fishing and they will miss your special ways Papa. He is survived by his wife, Marion (MacIntyre); daughters, Kim (John) MacLeod, Tracy (Stan) MacNeil, both of Port Hawkesbury; Tammy (Mike) Murray, Troy; Marylee (Todd MacNeil), Port Hawkesbury; son, Gordon Glen (Bev Ward), Troy; sister, Shirley (Bill) Conklin, Whycocomagh; brother, Glenford (Janet), Whycocomagh; stepbrothers, Brian and Keith, both of Ontario; grandchildren, Keanan Daniel, Brady Gordon, Brooklynn Wendy, Hallie Kadence, Hope Clara; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his lovely daughter, Wendy Lou. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
