GEORGE, Ira Glenn - 78, Upper White Head, Guysborough Co., died Saturday October 28, 2006, doing what he loved, a walk in the woods on a hunting trip. Born in Upper White Head, he was a son of the late Abraham and Annie (Grover) George.
He was a fisherman all his life until he retired in 2000. Ira loved to tell stories and play cards with his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Ethel (Munroe) George. He is survived by sons, Brian (Marilyn), Dartmouth; Roger (Hilda), Upper White Head; Barry (Doreen) Bible Hill; daughter, Valerie (Horace) Rhynold, Upper White Head; brothers, Phil, Antigonish; Paul, Queensport; Abe (Edie), Upper White Head; sisters, Adeline, Truro; Janetta, Ontario; grandchildren, Glen, Lisa, Cheryl, Kimberly, Shawn, Jason, Gordon, Allison, Barret, Cara, Shannon, Darren; 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Gordon in infancy; brothers, Seymour, Allan, Ed, Harvey, Percy; sisters, Winnie, Thelma, Juanita.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, White Head, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial in St. Bartholomew’s Cemetery, Cole Harbour, Guysborough Co. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
