Googoo, Christie Ann – 78, We’koqma’q First Nation, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2012, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Wagmatcook, Victoria Co., she was a daughter of the late John William and Mary Rose Poulette.
Christie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and also a basket maker and also made wooden flowers. She was a Waltes champion and enjoyed dancing. She was a member of Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q First Nation.
Surviving are daughters, Karen (J.W. "Tiny") Cremo and Mary Rose Googoo, both of We’koqma’q; sons, Roderick (Danita), Alexander "Sandy" (Norma Peck), both of We’koqma’q; sister, Jean Jeans, Enfield; brother, Alexander Poulette (Karen), London Ont; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; godchildren, Gilbert Bernard, Juanita Paul, Elizabeth Bernard, Jackie Paul and Tamara Cremo; bestfriend, Pearl Googoo. She was predeceased by sons, Gordon Patrick Jr., and Matthew; daughter, Norma; 2 children in infancy; brothers, John and George Jeddore; 2 godchildren.
Visitation will be after 7pm Tuesday, August 7, in the Elder Centre (Fishery Building) 160 Reservation Rd. We’koqma’q First Nation. Funeral Mass will be 11am Thursday, August 9, from Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, with Father Robert McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements for the late Christie Ann Googoo are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
