KEEFE, Mary Isabel 'Mae' - 82, Port Hawkesbury. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mae Keefe on Sunday, July 4, 2004, in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in Port Hawkesbury, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret Jane (MacEachern) Hopkins. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury. Mae lived a simple life caring for her family, friends and neighbors. She was always willing to give in times of need. She is survived by daughters, Helen (Jim) King, Brenda (George) Smith, Linda Keefe, Carleen Keefe (Gary Williams), all of Port Hawkesbury; Geraldine (John) MacLeod, Evanston; Colleen (Alan) Anderson, England; sons, Reg, Port Hawkesbury; John (Bunny), Evanston; sisters, Ella Hopkins, Louisdale; Beatrice Savage and Ida Hutt, both of New Glasgow; brothers, John Hopkins, Jackie (Sylvia) Hopkins, both of Louisdale; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; daughters, Loretta Hayes, Bernadette Smith, Earleen Keefe; sisters, Kaye Gillin and Sadie Hopkins. A great sense of gratitude and appreciation is extended to the staff of Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home who provided Mae with tremendous care and comfort over the last five years. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Mae may be made to Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Words of comfort can be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
