NAUFFTS, Shirley Mae - 79, Hazel Hill, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in the Canso Seaside Manor. Born in Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., she was a daughter of the late John and Alice (Mitchell) Whitenect.
Shirley worked as a X-Ray and Lab Technician in the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso for over 35 years, retiring in 1994. She volunteered her time with the Canso and Area Food Bank serving as Secretary at one time. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Canso.
Surviving Shirley are her loving husband, Merle, Hazel Hill; sons, John (Karen), Fredericton; Robert (Donna), Dartmouth; Paul (Jill) and Christopher (Kristin), all of Halifax; sisters, June (Gary) Hopkins, Pubnico; Joy (Bruce) Miller, Georgefield; Dianne Gazzola, Dartmouth; brothers, John (Donna), David (Minnie), Robert (Donna), Terry (Julie), all of Elderbank; Donald (Elaine), Musquodoboit Harbour; Dale (Janet), Elmsdale; grandchildren, Gage, Nathan, Rylee, Megan and Cassie. Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday from All Saints Anglican Church, Canso with Rev. Sue Channon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital Foundation or to All Saints Anglican Church Building Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
