FELTMATE (Grant), Mary Edith 'Edie' - 72, Cleveland, and formerly of Hazel Hill. Our beloved mother went home to heaven surrounded by her devoted family in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, Tuesday, March 16, 2004. Born in Little Dover, she was a daughter of the late Bloomfield and Lena (Fougere) Grant (Little Dover). She dedicated her life to the happiness of her family and those around her. She continued to display her strength of character and dignity until the end. Edie was a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Dave Rye), Moncton, N.B.; sons, Wayne (Phyllis), Oromocto, N.B.; Neil (Margie), Cleveland; Philip (Valerie), Sackville; Dana (Jean), Mike (Maxine), and Mark, all of Hazel Hill; sister, Ruth Armsworthy, Little Dover; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Bethany Rye, Andy (Kristin), John, Troy, and Judy (Gary) McNamara, Jonathan, Matthew, Deanna, Michael, Melissa and Josh Feltmate; great-grandchildren, Dana-Jo and Matthew McNamara, Allison Feltmate. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil; son, Trent; granddaughter, Kaila; brother, Douglas Grant.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. A celebration of Edie's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Star of the Sea Building Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Reception to follow in Hazel Hill Fire Hall.
