FOUGERE, Mable Isabel - 78, Canso, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, she was a daughter of the late Murdock and Mary (Hurst) McNeil. She was retired from the fish plant in Canso. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department, Canso, a member of Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46, Canso, a member of the Star of the Sea Parish and a past member of Shamrock Senior's Club. Mable loved bingo and card plays, and her many jokes and quick wit will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Gerard, Canso; daughters, Laura (Clayton) Haines, Canso; Mary (Ronald) Helpard, Sheet Harbour; sons, Edward, Vincent, both of Canso; Fred, Halifax; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Joseph in infancy, Mike, Pat; brother, Francis McNeil; sisters, Ruth Cashin, Alice Noble, and Cora Munroe. Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
