FRASER, Donald Gregory – 91, Port Hood, Inverness County, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Donald was born in Port Hood to the late Daniel and Mary Elizabeth (Tompkins) Fraser. He has worn a number of hats over the years; mine worker, school bus driver, co-op worker, security guard, tax collector. He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish Choir, Port Hood, President of Holy Name Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus. Donald always gave generously of his time to his community, weather it was for concerts, ordinations, weddings or meetings, or to answer questions relating to local history. He was the last surviving member of the Fraser family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Ellen Fraser, Port Hood; brothers-in-law, Richard and Rose MacInnis, Petawawa Ont; Frank and Mary MacInnis, Alexander and Margaret MacInnis, all of London Ont; Hughie and Dianna MacInnis, Halifax; Joan MacInnis, Windsor Ont; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter; brother, Alexander; sister, Catherine Avery. Visitation will be held from 2-9pm on Monday July 9, in the Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be 11am Tuesday from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood, with Father Vincent van Zutphen officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society, the Alzheimer Society, or to the Port Hood and Area Resting Place.
