FOX, Ernest Alexander – Princeville and formerly of Port Hastings, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston at the age of 83. Ernest died peacefully with his family and friends by his side.
Born in Port Hastings, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (MacQuarrie) Fox. He was an adherent of St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings. He was employed by T.C. Gorman Company Limited in the building of the Canso Canal and was also employed by Haverstock’s Limited for many years. He was a retired member of the Port Hastings Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by brothers, Lloyd (Jacqueline), George (Sally); sister-in-law, Claudette; several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his caregiver and friend, Bonnie Hines, who cared for Ernie the past seven years. He was predeceased by brother, William. Many thanks to Dr. Collins, Dr. Pluta, nurses and staff of Strait Richmond Hospital for the care he received while he was there.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. David's United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Donations may be made to St. David’s United Church Building Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
