George, Paul Harold – of Queensport, Guys. Co., and formally of Lead Cove, NFLD and Toronto, Ont. Age 80 years, passed away at home on Thursday, May 11 2017. Born in Upper Whitehead, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late Abraham "Abe "and Margaret Ann (Grover) George. Paul grew up and attended school in a one room school House in Upper Whitehead, moving to Toronto at the early age of 19 (1955)to accept employment with the City of Toronto where he was employed until 1975. In the summer of 1975 Paul moved back to Upper Whitehead, built a new home and began his new career as a fisherman. In 1979 Paul and Trixie moved to Newfoundland where they lived for a number of years moving back to Queensport and back to fishing in the Whitehead area. Paul loved fishing especially lobster from his camp along with his faithful companion, his Labrador dog; Paul loved dogs and always had one in his life wherever he lived. Paul was a lifelong hunter and sports fisherman spending many hours on the rivers and lakes with his fishing buddy, Art Martin. Paul is survived by his partner, Linda Munroe who was with him till the end and he was blessed with her care and compassion for him throughout his long term illness of COPD. In addition Linda’s children, Marlene( Rob), Troy (Judy), Nathan (Darlene) and grandchildren, Tyler, Gerene, Zackary, Kayla and Haley . Paul is also survived by his sister, Adeline Desroches, Truro; brother, Phillip George, Antigonish; and many nieces and nephews and eight god-children. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Typhena `` Trixie`` (Button); brothers, Edward, Harvey, Percy, Ira and Abe; sisters, Winnie, Thelma, Jeanette and Juanta; half-brothers, Allan George, (Port Felix) and Seymour Meads (Queensport). Special thanks to all Doctors, Nurses, Homecare and any other people that have helped in any way during Paul`s illness the past few years. May God Bless each of you. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in Christ Anglican Church, Queensport and from where the funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 16 at 11a.m. with Rev. Susan Slater officiating. Burial to follow in the church Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Paul`s memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church, Queensport or a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
