Grover, E. Rita - Age 87 of Canso, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Canso Seaside Manor, Canso. Born in Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., on October 14, 1930; she was a daughter of the late Elmo Spears and Lena Casey and was raised by her late grandparents. Surviving is her loving partner of 56 years, George Richardson, Canso; daughters, Georgina Richardson, Canso; Connie Newell (Dwayne Cogger), St Andrews; Joanne Fougere (Kirk Shurman), PEI; son, Russell (Sherry) Richardson, Canso; grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Richard, Dwayne and Sarah Newell, Jade Fougere, Brooke Hooper, Jaycob Richardson, step-grandchildren, Rena and Nathan Nickerson, great-grandchildren, Gabryle and Abygail Newell. Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley (Joe) Pettipas, Bertha Doiron, Lorna Cashin; brothers, Frankie (Marilyn) Doiron, Russell (Stella) Doiron, Kenneth (Eileen) Doiron; sister-in-law, Muriel Doiron. Besides her parents and grandparents, Rita was predeceased by her daughter, Eileen Casey; brother, Edmond "Emmy" Doiron; stepfather, John Doiron; uncles, Gus and John Casey and brother-in-law, Roddie Cashin. Mom loved to knit and play cards, she was generous, kind and would do anything for anybody, and she regularly donated to Kids with Cancer and MADD. She always made everyone feel welcome into her home and made sure they left with full bellies. She loved her grandkids and spoiled them rotten. We know she is at peace now and where she wanted to go. We will miss her and love her forever and never forget. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 17, at 2 p.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Charlos Cove with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
