NOSEWORTHY (Stride), Golda Ilene – Age 91, MacLellan’s Brook / Port Hawkesbury, died at home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 6, 1927, in Jackson’s Arm, NL to the late Bramwell and Violet (Ford) Stride. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury. She had a deep faith in God and lived the life of a true Christian. She loved and cherished her family, twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. She was a very much loved Nanny to her grandchildren and Nanny Golda to her thirty great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Karen (Tom) Keefe, Cleveland; Archie (Elaine), Grantville; Brenda (Faron) Lush, Greenhill; Brian (Denise), Port Hastings; Daryle (Denise), MacLellan’s Brook; Robert (Marie), Grantville; Denise (Monty) Snow, MacLellan’s Brook; Geri Noseworthy (Curtis), Cook’s Brook; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Carrie) Stride, Lewis (Verna) Stride, Julie Avery, Doug (Eileen) Stride, Howard (Sheila) Stride, Sheila (Wayne) Guy; sister-in-law, Adelaide Stride. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim; brothers, Dennis, Ralph, Harold, Randolph; sister, Gladys; sisters-in-law, Emily Stride, Cluda Stride, Marjorie Stride and Whillmenia Stride; brother-in-law, Jim Avery. The family would like to thank the CCA’S with the Pictou County VON who looked after our mom like she was their own and also to the Pictou County VON nurses. This support allowed our mom to remain in her own home as long as possible and to fulfill her wish to remain in the family environment at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Monty Snow when she could no longer live alone. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks also to the Palliative Care team, Dr. Kwasnik, Debbie Williams, Joan Timmons and to mom’s long time family physician, Dr. Glen Gallavan. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury with Pastor Maggie Plant officiating. Burial will follow in Grantville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s United Church or to Grantville Cemetery.
