Obituary
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
OLSEN, Nancy Marie – Age 41, Glendale, Inverness Co., passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019, in the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax. If you chatted with Nan in the last 17 years you knew her pride and joy was her only daughter, Molly Bear! Molly was in her heart and thoughts until her last breath. Nan had such a huge impact on those who knew her and we will all miss her dearly.
Nancy had a loving family, cherished extended family and friends. She left us far too early, but she is with her beloved Mom, Kay and at peace now. Nancy was a gifted esthetician and former business owner of Closer to Fine Salon. She would always make you look and feel better, both inside and out. Music was a big love of hers, driving with the tunes cranked and her lovely soft singing voice along with her guitar could bring a tear to your eye. She loved the hunt for sea-glass and created many beautiful pieces that shone like she did.
Due to years of dietary restrictions from her Crohn’s, she learned to live on pasta and many times had a liquid diet of orange juice, jammers, V8 and chocolate milk. She was famous for never finishing a drink, so if you find a half-empty glass lying around, perhaps Nancy has paid a visit. Friends and family were very important to her. She loved everyone and was especially drawn to help those in need with her warm, caring nature. She was a real live angel here on earth. A proud Cape Bretoner, she was the sunshine in many people’s lives, especially Molly, whom she raised into an amazing young woman.
After her mom’s passing, Roy and she became inseparable and he won’t be the same without her. Siblings, Kim, Ian and Megan will remember her as a free spirit who followed her dreams and who had a smile and positive energy that could brighten anyone’s day. One call and they were sitting beside her in the hospital taking over for their mom who was always there by her side. It was impossible to be in a bad mood when Nancy was around. Even when she was sick herself, she had a gift of compassion, caring, kindness, humour and joy that was contagious.
Her passing was especially hard on her nephews, Drew, Noah and Johnny. They loved their aunt Nan to the moon and back. She was a fun aunt who was an endless source of laughter and took them on many mischievous adventures. They will never forget her. Nancy had many challenges in her short life and she faced them all with great courage. In the end, they proved too much for her graceful, delicate soul. We all can take comfort knowing she is at rest and pain free. Nancy will live in all our hearts forever. She had the biggest heart of all. Rest in Peace dear Nancy.
