Welsh, Robert Ellsworth - of Mulgrave, Guysborough Co., age 78 years. Passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Hadleyville, Guys. Co. on November 25, 1940, he was a son of the late Arthur and Viola (Parks) Welsh. Robert was a fisherman and heavy equipment operator. Robert fought a very hard battle in the last seven years with Kidney failure, but always kept a positive attitude, never wanted to miss a day fishing. Fishing was his passion and he was a big advocate of Sand Point Wharf. Robert was generous and was always there with a helping hand. He helped all he could and all that knew him said he was a great man. He was a big storyteller and he was in his glory telling stories in his shed. Robert is survived by his spouse, Dorothy O’Leary, his children, Sherry (Sheldon), Beverly, Steven (Isabel), and Tracy (Bruce); his former wife, friend and mother of his children, Veronica Welsh; stepsons, Sean (Jeannie), Andrew (Tanya) and Daniel (Jessica); siblings, Naomi, Basil, Horace, Francis, George, Jessie, and Kenneth; also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sheryl, Sidney, Corey, Kris, Cody, Daylon and Cullen; one great-grandchild, Jesse; 12 step grand-children, Jenna, Shaina, Shelby, Emily, Matthew, Kandace, Akayla, Dakota, Daytona, James and Elizabeth; five step great-grandchildren, Carson, Jaci, Molly, Teaghan and Asher. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ellen, David and Agnes Mae. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to all the nurses at the dialysis unit at Strait Richmond Hospital. Also special thanks to all the doctors and nurses for the care given to Robert during his illness. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25 in Mulgrave & Area Resting Place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, at 2 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford with Rev. Susan Slater officiating. Burial to follow at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert to St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford or Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
