PELLEY, William "Bill" Henry – Age 87 of Guysborough, formerly of Tompkinsville, Guysborough Co. It is with deep sorrow that we announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, March 10. 2020, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, with his family at his side. Born in Tompkinsville, on April 23, 1932, he was a son of the late James and Laura Pelley. He was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough. In his earlier years Bill worked at various jobs throughout Nova Scotia as a labourer and truck driver. He worked for the Department of Lands and Forests and especially enjoyed the spring maple sugar camp. In his later years he joined his wife Marie delivering Rural Route mail for Canada Post, and the Chronicle Herald down the shore. Bill loved music, especially Hank Williams and Hank Snow, and often sang and played the guitar, fiddle and other instruments for his family and friends. Bill was an avid hunter for years, and was especially proud of his trophy buck that hung in the living room for the past 61 years. Bill loved his chickens that he raised and supplied eggs to his family with for many years. He also had a farm for many years that he raised beef, sheep, pigs and turkeys to feed his family. Bill leaves to mourn his wife of over 60 years, Marie Pelley (Worth); children, Lonas (Nola), Roseanne (Jim Hanifen), Kevin (Christina), Wanita (Bob Hettrick), Cameron (Brenda), Malcolm (Dianna); grandchildren, Tommy, James, Jeffrey, Kristine, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Sylvia, Jeremy, Charita, Aaron, Jason, Madeline, Braden, Tyler, Lori and Tanya; great-grandchildren Charity, Chasity, Morgan, Nicholas, Quinn, Bianca, Maurice Joseph (M.J.) and Jessie Rose, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Sylvia; sisters, Mabel, Eva, Nina, Margaret, Violet, and Charlotte; brothers, Russell, Leo, Simon and Lloyd. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 13, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held 11a.m. Saturday, March 14 from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Callistus Ababzie officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Ann’s Cemetery fund or to Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
