Newell, "Bud" Harold Judson, Canso - Age 80 years. Passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso on April 15, 1940; he was a son of the late Robert and Frances (Swaine) Newell.
Bud started to fish at the age of 13 and took an early retirement at the age of 55. He enjoyed camping and travelled to the USA taking cruises with his daughter and family.
He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (Bond), Canso; twin daughters, Frances (Brian) Sweeney, Annapolis Valley; Freda (Mark) Russell, Montgomery, Alabama, USA; sons, Fred (Cherie), New Glasgow; Ronald (Wanda), Guysborough; sisters, Mary, Donnalee, Joan, Roberta; brothers, Jim, Bill, George, Cecil, Derek, Kevin, Edward; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren + one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pearl Frances; son, Harold Edward; sisters, Elsie, Shirley and Cathy; brothers, Michael, Bobby, Wayne.
Visitation will be held 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, in Canso United Baptist Church, and from where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, all attendees will be asked to provide their names and telephone numbers upon arrival at the church. Social distancing protocols are to be followed and masks are mandatory.
