Dorothy Emma "Bonnie" Hines October 28th,1951- February 22nd, 2022 It is with utmost sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend, Bonnie Hines, at home surrounded by family, just like she wanted. Bonnie was born in Montreal, the oldest daughter of Joe Samson and Edna Maclean, step mother Laura. Bonnie spent most of her years on Cape Breton island, until moving to "the Lake" to live with daughter Laurie. She spent many years caring for numerous members of her community, at her home. Too many to even count. These "seniors" were so lucky to have a new place to call home, and Bonnie treated every one of them like her own family. Mom’s favourite time was spent surrounded by family and friends, sipping on half a cup of tea. She loved her pets, especially Beau. She loved playing cards, and was an avid church goer. She enjoyed shopping, baking, yard sales and trips to town. She loved hitting up any Giant Tiger she could find. Bonnie enjoyed the many phone calls from family and friends, her phone never stopped ringing! Nanny loved watching her Hallmark Christmas movies, and couldn’t wait until Christmas morning to open her gifts, often starting on the 24th. Bonnie is survived by children Billy Joe (Juanita), Johnny, Laurie (Phil) Marchand, Tommy (Jill) and Jason (Jenell). Grandkids Emma, Kobe and Sam, Corey, Colton and Connor, Breanne and Morgan, Hannah and Rowan, Faith and Bryson. As well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Sister Pauline Matthews, sister in laws Caroline Maclean (Clem MacDonald) and Edna Kline. She was predeceased by husband Billy, brothers Peter, Gerald and Jimmy. Sisters Alice and Marge (George). Family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team at Saint Martha’s - Shelly, RN and Dr. Rice, Continuing care, and a huge thanks to Dr. Jane Anne Howard. With the support of you all we were able to keep Mom/Nanny home with us where she wanted to be. Visitation will occur Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2 – 6 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury. A private funeral mass will take place Monday, February 28, 2022, in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road, with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at 12 pm. Visitation and funeral attendees must be vaccinated, wear a mask and practice social distancing. Donations in her memory can be made to Antigonish Town and County Palliative Care Society. "Nanny, you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, although we cannot see you, you’re always at our side" 22:22 Visitation Information Visitation Sunday, February 27, 2022 Visitation Time 2-6 pm Visitation Location Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury Service Information Service Date Monday, February 28, 2022 Service Time Private Service Location St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road Burial Information Burial Date Feb 28, 2022 Burial Time 12 pm Burial Location St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Cemetery
