ELLIS, Mildred J. - 72, Little Narrows, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, on Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Born in Orangedale East, she was a daughter of the late Murdock A. and Alena A. (Campbell) MacRitchie. Mildred was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was dearly loved by her family and friends. Her family and friends were the most important part of her life. She will be fondly remembered for her caregiving and great sense of humour.
Mildred was a retired CNA with Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. She was a member of Little Narrows Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid and was also a member of Finance and Maintenance Committee.
She is survived by daughters, Glenda (Calvin) Matthews and Sharon (John) Pearo, both of River Denys; Murdell (Larry) MacNeil, Iona; daughter-in-law, Margie Ellis, River Denys; son, Ritchie (Sally), Aberdeen; sisters, Margaret Logue, Toronto, Ont.; Kathleen MacLean, Little Narrows; Mary (Clarence) Roberts, Baddeck; brothers, Allister (Margaret), Little Narrows; Norman (Barbara), Toronto; Lloyd (Elsie), Baddeck; grandchildren, Allison (Frank) and Jonathan Pearo, Kristan and Matthew Ellis, Natalie, Russell and Brett Matthews, Travis and Daisy Ellis, Tyler and Nikki MacNeil; several nieces and nephews. Mildred was a woman of great faith, strength and courage, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Gary; sisters, Florence Houchin and Carolyn MacDonald.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-5, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Rev. Ron Sharpe officiating. Burial in Little Narrows Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to Victoria County Memorial Hospital Foundation or Little Narrows Presbyterian Church.
