Obituary
Please share a memory of Eleanor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Floie Ellis who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017, in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Floie was the daughter of the late Russell and Maude (Rouse) Matthews. Floie was born in Timmins, Ontario, but later moved with her parents to the Big Marsh Road, River Denys where she lived most of her life. She was a member of Forbes United Church, River Denys, a lifetime member of the Forbes Church UCW, and the Blues Mills Volunteer Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary. A devoted mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed sharing her family history, she had a wonderful sense of humour, loved playing piano, listening to a variety of music, taking numerous pictures of family gatherings and making a strong cup of tea for anyone that came through her door. She adored her time with her grandchildren and was so proud of all of them.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Florence) Muise, Stevie (Chris) Muise, Brian (Jo-ann) Ellis, Wendell (Wendy) Ellis and grandchildren, Nick, Johnny, Colten, Chase, Matt, Kai, Haylee Dawn and Jonah; sister, Tena Waters; brothers, Johnny (Sadie) Matthews, Gerald (Eileen) Matthews, Calvin (Glenda) Matthews; aunts, Margaret Costa and Flo Hare; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by sister, Geraldine MacFadyen; brothers, Billy Matthews, Earl Matthews; sisters-in-law, Mae Matthews, Nita Matthews and brother-in-law, Abbie Waters.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation, a family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of family flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Forbes United Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at:www.haverstocks.com
