MacDougall, (Williams) Kathleen Eva - 93- Port Hawkesbury. It is with deep regret that we the family announce the passing of Kathleen MacDougall on, Monday, May 24, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Born in Canso and spent many of her childhood years in Canso. She was the daughter of the late James Valentine Williams, (Canso) and Eva Mae (Snyder) Williams (Little Dover). Kathleen was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury and a former member of the CWL. She was member of the Evergreen Seniors Citizens Club where she loved playing cards and socializing with her close friends. Throughout her senior years she enjoyed travelling. The place she frequented the most was the Basilica of St Anne de Beaupre near Quebec City which provided her with opportunities to pursue her religious beliefs and prepare for her second journey in life. She has now embarked on second journey and will always be remembered as a sheppard of friendship and goodwill. Kathleen was a great friend, loving mother and a well respected aunt.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Edward "Teddy"; MacDougall who was killed suddenly at the Nova Scotia Pulp Industries Limited, Point Tupper, October 28, 1966. He was formerly from East Bay, Nova Scotia. She was also predeceased by her sister Jean (Williams) Bates and brothers John Williams, (Sydney), Jim Williams (Beaverbank) and Huntley Williams (Halifax). Left to celebrate her life are her children; Edwardean, Edison, NJ; Ann, Halifax; Jim (Debbie), Calgary, AB and Ian, Newburgh, NY. She also leaves a sister, Eileen Rankin, Halifax; a sister-in- law, Margie Williams, Sydney and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with vigil service at 2 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Kathleen's life will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, Thursday, May 27, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. There will be a short graveside service at St Joseph's Cemetery followed by a reception at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kathleen may be made to the St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund, 138 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury, NS, B9A 2G1 or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Atlantic Region, 902-422-5520. The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Martha's Hospital, Strait Richmond Hospital, the office of Dr. Ben Boucher, Inverness Homecare and everyone who tended to Kathleen during her illness.
