Jordan, Bernard Edward “Bernie” – 62, Sunnyville, Guysborough Co., Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Ann Jordan (Jewell) and Norman Borden, Jr. He was a member of Sunnyville United Baptist Church. Bernie was employed by Devco Development in Glace Bay as a coal miner for 34 years, retiring 10 years ago.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Deacon Clara (Borden) Jordan, sons, Bernie Jr. (Carol) and Clifton (Holly), both of Port Hawkesbury; and Clinton, Kentville; godson, Darnell Skinner, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Kayla, Taneesha, Josiah, Sierra, Kiana, Jamaal, Raelyn and Nathan, brothers, Ronnie, Dartmouth; Neil, Brampton, Ont.; Walter “Wallie”, Norman, James ,Blair and Norman Jr. all of Sunnyville; George, Halifax; Wayne, Dartmouth; Richard, Monastery; Anthony and Darryl both of Toronto, Ont. and Lawrence, Boylston; sisters, Sharon, Diane, and Rita all of Dartmouth; Betty, Marion, and Sarah all of Sunnyville and Muriel, Lawrencetown, Hfx. Co. Bernie was predeceased by his grandparents, Clayton and Mary Jordan; sisters, Beverly and Peggy Borden; brother Paul Borden.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Monday in Sunnyville United Baptist Church, from where the Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20 with Pastor David Wheeler officiating assisted by Pastor Emmanuel Mutale. Memorial donations may be made in Bernie’s memory to Sunnyville United Baptist Church or Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
