MACDONALD, Luke Robert – 16, Mulgrave – After a courageous battle, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luke Robert MacDonald on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of Robert “Bob” and Angela (Snow) MacDonald and a wonderful, loving brother to Jill. Throughout his short life, Luke was an avid outdoors man, with a love of fishing and snowmobiling. He loved playing hockey; both at the rink and at Brian’s Pond. Luke was outgoing, charming and funny. His beautiful smile lit up any room and he was known for his infectious sense of humor. When not outdoors, Luke could be found in his special chair playing Xbox and eating family sized-meals, listening to his IPod and hanging out with his many friends watching movies. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his paternal grandmother, Ruth MacDonald and maternal grandparents, Fred and Shirley Snow; aunts and uncles, Lloyd (Joanna), Gary (Linda), David, Glenn (Marlene), Debbie (Chris), Philip (Jennifer), Dawna, Alice, Rhonda (Mark), Natasha (Jon) and many loving cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Lewis MacDonald and his aunt, Andrea Snow. Visitation will take place at the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mulgrave on Monday at 2:00pm with Reverend Dennis Hayward officiating. Burial in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Mulgrave. Heartfelt thanks to the professional and compassionate staff at the 5.2 I.C.U, Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, NS, the emergency staff of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, NS, the Mulgrave and area First Responders, and Emergency Health Services, Port Hawkesbury. As expressions of sympathy, family flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Halifax and the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
