Izzard, Gertrude Jane (nee Desmond) – 90, Dartmouth, formerly of Mulgrave. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. Passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born March 24, 1920 in Tracadie Road, Guys. Co.; she was a daughter of the late William and Sarah Jane (Ashe) Desmond. She is survived by her loving children, daughters, Florence Ashe, Mulgrave; Irene Downey, Toronto, ON; sons, Charlie, Aubrey, Ambrose (Lois), Douglas, all of Toronto, ON; Gary (Juanita), Dartmouth; sisters, Florence "Flo" Richards, and Margaret "Meg" Williams both of New Glasgow; brothers, Wilfred (Ardella) and Jimmie both of Lincolnville, 28 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Charles Izzard, two infant sons, Frankie and Jessie, sisters, Effie, Ann, Emma and Charlotte; brother, Jack; sons-in-law, Raymond Ashe Sr., and Maurice "Bobby" Downey; sister-in-law, Agnes Desmond. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in Mulgrave & Area Resting Place. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Cremation to follow burial in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Mulgrave at a later date. Memorial donations in Gertrude’s memory may be made to Mulgrave & Area Resting Place.
