Yorke, Kenneth "Wayne" DLM – 61, West Bay, Richmond Co.; It is with deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Husband, Father and Papa, Kenneth "Wayne" Yorke, DLM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at his home in West Bay, Cape Breton. Born in New Glasgow, June 18, 1949 to the late Kenneth and Doris (Phinney) Yorke, he was raised in Five Islands, Col. Co., a place that always called him home. Wayne was an Instructor at Commercial Safety College, a Boy Scout Leader and an Automotive Mechanic. All the "hats" he wore helped prepare him for his calling as a Lay Pastoral Minister. Wayne was the United Church Minister for West Bay Pastoral Charge. He was a member of W. D. Lawrence Masonic Lodge 101, Maitland, Hants Co. and Associate Patron, Starlight Chapter 66, O.E.S., Port Hawkesbury. Wayne is survived by his Loving Wife of 43 years, Elva (MacKinnon); His Pride and Joy, daughters, Anita and Michell (Ronnie) and "Papa’s Girls", Alyssa (Joe), Alla, Keiana and Mallori; brothers, Greg (Anne-Marie), Vincent (Shirley) and David (Linda) all of Five Islands; Daniel (Cindy), Bass River; sisters, Natalie (Bill), Economy and Betty (Dennis) Truro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he loved to spend time with. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15 from 7-9 p.m. with an O.E.S. service at 6:45 p.m. both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held in West Bay United Church, 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. His remains will be transferred to Peniel United Church, Five Islands, from where a funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, with Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the United Church Cemetery, Five Islands. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in memory of Wayne may be made to a charity of your choice.
