Macdonald, Marjorie Viola – 82, Orangedale, Inverness Co.; passed away peacefully in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, Saturday, June 4, 2011. Born in New Glasgow, June 17, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Franklyn and Gene (Dunbar) MacKenzie. Marjorie was a member of Orangedale United Church for 66 years, serving as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, and then served as president of the W.M.S. of which she was also a lifetime member. Marjorie was also a member of the Whycocomagh Home and School Association for many years. She was also a member of the Orangedale Improvement Association for many years as well. She was an excellent cook, noted for her delicious Oat Breads and Scotch Bread Cookies, which she so joyfully prepared for many church teas and suppers. A true loyal friend of outstanding Christian Character, Marjorie will be greatly missed by all in the community, and by her family and friends. Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Allan Macdonald; sons, Randy (Nancy) Macdonald and Jack Macdonald; grandchildren, Natasha (Ronnie) Jamieson, Jason, Jacklyn (Anouard) Elalami; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Savannah Jamieson whom she loved very dearly; sister, Gene (Terry); brothers, Ronald (Jean), Garfield (Betty), Darrell (Betty), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marjorie was predeceased by her sisters, Marion and Phyllis (Snyder). Visitation for Marjorie will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Orangedale United Church, with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gillis Cove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to Canadian Pancreatic Cancer Society or Orangedale United Church. We the family at this time would like to give special thanks to Dr. Genge and Dr. Chow, as well as the nurses and staff of the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck for their professionalism and compassion shown during Marjorie’s illness.
