RICHARD, Mary Clara – Hureauville, Richmond Co. passed away Wednesday, October 26th, 2011, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Trenton, Pictou Co. on November 5th, 1922; raised in Whiteside, then settling in Hureauville amongst many family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Catherine Anne "Cassie" (Carroll) White. Mary was a retired school teacher, a career that she was very passionate about, making many lifelong bonds with her students. She taught throughout Richmond Co. and retired from Walter Fougere Elementary School in Evanston. Mary was as an enthusiastic card player. She enjoyed progressive 45’s with a group of close friends in their homes and at many community card games; she also enjoyed teaching her family to play. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish and a member of the St. Francis de Sales CWL, serving as the groups first president. Mary was very involved and active in church and community affairs. Although she has had many passions in life, being a mother and grandmother was what she enjoyed the most. Surviving are son, Michael (Marilyn), Whiteside; grandchildren, Evan (Crystal), Truro; Michelle (Kenny), Evanston; Lisa (John), New Glasgow; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Noah, Lincoln; sister, Gladys (Doug), Trenton Ont; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Phil; brothers, Jerome, Eugene, Bill, Cyril, Charlie, Thomas and Ambry. Visitation will be 1-5 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday October 30th, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be held Monday October 31st, 11:00am, in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitants, with Father Barrett Claire-Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to L’Arche Antigonish or to St. Francis de Sales Cemetery fund.
