MACDONNELL, Ewen – 67, Port Hawkesbury/ Sydney passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with family by his side. Born in Mabou, April 12, 1944, he was a son of the late John Alex and Agnes (MacEachen) MacDonnell. He retired from Stora Enso as woodroom operator. He is survived by sons, Lennie, Calgary; Robie, Halifax; daughters, Lynn Pelerine, Halifax; Natasha (Billy), Port Hawkesbury; Heather (Trevor), of Troy; sister,Marion Slater, Florida USA; and brother, Jack (Lorraine), Judique; seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by infant brother, Alden, sisters, Frances Walsh and Jennette MacDougall, also by companion, Evelyn Callaghan. Visitation will be today November 17, from 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday,in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
