MacDONALD, Mary Belle "Mabel" – 99, Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, formerly of Stewartdale, Inverness Co., passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour whom she loved and served, on Thursday June 14, 2012, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born on October 13, 1912, in Whycocomagh Mountain, Inverness Co. she was a daughter of the late Neil and Margaret (Morrison) MacDonald. Mabel was a homemaker, wife, mother and friend. She was known for her hospitality and love of life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her daughters, Marilyn (Ron) Swan, Beaverlodge AB; Jemina (Arthur) Walsh, Dartmouth; sons, John, Dartmouth; Malcolm, Scarborough Ont; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandson as well as daughters-in-law, Jeannette MacDonald, Whycocomagh; Annabel MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; She was predeceased by her husband, Donald John MacDonald; sons, Mervin and Donald (DA); granddaughter, Donna Shepherd; sisters, Margaret MacPherson, Effie MacDonald, Annabelle Rector; brothers, Archie, Duncan and Roddie; nephews, Peter, Alex and Jimmy MacPherson; Donnie and Billy MacDonald; Sonny Rector; nieces, Pauline, Effie and Anne; daughter-in-law, Linda; Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday, June 15, in the Blues Mills Gospel Hall, from where funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, with David Swan and Fred Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home Activity Dept., or to Stewartdale Cemetery.
