MacDONALD, Randy Allan – 65, Orangedale, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2012, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Inverness, Randy was the son of John Allan and the late Marjorie (MacKenzie) Macdonald. He was a member and the organist at Orangedale United Church. His love for music and his undeniable talent as a musician will forever be cherished by his family and friends. Randy was an avid photographer and he truly enjoyed capturing some of Cape Breton’s beauty, as well as the Tall Ships. With that came his interest in sailing the beautiful Bras D’or upon his "RNJ Fantasy I " McGregor. After completeing his studies at Mount Allison University, he was employed as an accountant with Hyck of Canada, Kentville, then with Cabot Croft Industries, Sydney. Very dedicated to his work, he went on to work with Indian and Northern Affairs in Sydney and Amherst, rounding out his career as an Economic Development Officer with Eskasoni, Wagmatcook and Waycobah First Nations. Randy was a devoted family man and friend. His love for travel was shared with his loving wife and best friend of 44 years "Nastasie" (Nancy Googoo) MacDonald. Randy’s never ending love for his children never went unnoticed and you could see this loving man beam with pride and joy when he spoke of his two beautiful granddaughters. Surviving are his father, John Allan, Orangedale; wife, Nancy Mary (Googoo) MacDonald, Orangedale; daughter, Natasha (Ronnie) Jamieson, Lawrencetown; son, Jason (RoseMary), Orangedale; brother, Jack, Orangedale; granddaughters, Jaden and Savannah ; godchild/niece, Ashley Bernard; nieces, Michelle Bernard and Jacklyn (Anouar) Elalami; as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie; nephew, Jonathan Bernard. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Sunday, in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be 2p.m. Monday, from Orangedale United Church, with Karen Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gillis Cove Cemetery, Orangedale. Memorial donations may be made to Orangedale United Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
