Vandermeer, Janet Elizabeth Charlene Reid – 64, peacefully passed away on Saturday December 22, 2012, in palliative care at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Janet was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 26, 1948 to the late Charles and Margaret Reid. She lived in various locations including Belleville and Toronto, Ontario before settling in Inverness, Nova Scotia. Janet enjoyed such hobbies as gardening, woodworking, creative writing, and stained glass. She also had a passion for her forest in Inverness, animals, and music. She leaves this world a brighter place for having filled it with her song, laughter, and love of life. Janet is survived by her daughters, Alberta Vandermeer (Jason Clapp), Arkansas; Ingrid Vandermeer (Bill Davidson), Brockville; Kate Ann Vandermeer (Graham Angus), Toronto; Meredith Vandermeer (Chris Vacca), Oregon; brothers Gordon (Sarah) Reid, Hamilton; Russell (Donna) Reid, Vancouver; sister Cathy Reid–Elliott (British Columbia), Vancouver; her 5 grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. We invite you to join us for a service to remember Janet Reid Vandermeer at the Haverstock Funeral Chapel on 12 Main Street, Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia on Saturday December 29 at 2pm. A reception will follow between 2:30 – 4pm. Further arrangements will be made at a later date for a celebration of Janet’s life in Belleville, Ontario.
