HADLEY, Stephen Morrison "Steve" – 91, Port Shoreham, Guysborough Co., passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Port Shoreham, on September 23, 1922, he was the youngest of 11 children born to Edmund and Margaret (McKeough) Hadley.
He was a woodsman, carpenter, farmer and was happiest when fishing on MacPherson’s Lake, hunting on his wood lots and caring for his animals and above all he was a loving husband to his recently deceased wife of 67 years, Margaret Irene Hadley and loving father to his 6 surviving children, sons, Russell, Guysborough; Billy (Johane), Port Shoreham; daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Hart, Boylston; Judy (Rick) Jones, Dartmouth; Janet (Pierre) Gilbert, Montreal; Ruth (Barry) Smith, Hammonds Plains; sister, Jane Brown, Halifax; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters and one infant grandson, Phillip Jones.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 31, from Boylston United Church, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Burial will follow in Manchester Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Stephen may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
