Please share a memory of Keith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SNIDER, Keith Clarence 77 of Manchester, Guysborough Co. passed away January 31, 2014 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Manchester he was the son of the late Morley and Nellie (Aikens) Snider. Dad is survived by daughters, Tracey, Antigonish, and Connie, Halifax; son, Paul (Carol Ann), Manchester; grandchildren, Athena, Sarah, Mariah and Tyler and special to Dad’s heart, grandson, Timmy; great-grandchildren, Angel, Matthias, Mia, Benjamin, and Hailey.
Predeceased by his wife, Nancy and brothers, Neil and Clare.
Keith spent some early years working in Mulgrave unloading boats. But the majority of his working life was spent as a licensed mechanic at Snider’s Repair Shop in Manchester, which was taken over by Dad after his father’s retirement. Dad sold Austin cars, lawn mowers, power saws, tires and gas from the little garage, and was known far and wide by many. His friends knew him as a hard worker who spent long hours in the garage to help out anyone who needed it.
Dad certainly had the gift to gab and loved to tell stories from years ago. He always had a great interest in the stars and constellations, the universe, nature, country music, Louis L’Amour books and western movies.
Dad’s last years were spent in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish . He loved the staff there and was always in great cheer. The staff often commented on his continuous sense humour, even when he wasn’t well, he never complained.
Family would like to thank Dr. Steven Gallant, Dr. Patricia Allen, Dr. Jeannie MacGillivray , and nursing staff at St Martha’s. Also special thanks to "his girls" at the R.K. and staff who made Dad’s last year’s so pleasant. He loved all of you!
