Hadley, Florence Mary Matilda - Age 87 of Hadleyville, Guysborough Co. died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Middle Melford, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lydia (Hadley) England. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, some years ago she became a member of the Hadleyville United Church followed to become an elder and Secretary / Treasurer for over 25 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Faith Chapter # 54 Mulgrave, a member in the 7 Communities Ladies Auxiliary. She was a director of the Strait Area Credit Union when it first opened in Mulgrave, now named East Coast Credit Union. In 1993 she went to Halifax and was presented with a plaque for her Volunteer services in the Municipality of the district of Guysborough, many hours were spent at the Milford Haven Nursing Home, visiting the guests. Surviving are daughters, Doreen Hadley, Hadleyville; Marie MacDonald, Lismore; son, David Hadley, Bridgewater; brothers, Winston (Grace) England, Troy; David (Iona) England, Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Ada (John) Durant, Edna Quenneville, Hamilton, Ont.; grandson, Jason (Georda), Lismore; granddaughters, Jaime (Andy) Landry, St. Peters; Karen (John) Pelrine, Grimshaw, Alberta; Janice MacDonald, Lismore; Robyn and Laura Hadley, Halifax; great-grandsons, Evan, Dayne, Jaxon, Rylan, Michael and great-granddaughter, Lilli Laine; sisters-in-law, Margaret England and Barbara Delorey, Mulgrave, Marie England, Port Hastings and Clementine England, Wolfville. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Alexander Hadley, children, James, Phyllis and Lydia; sisters, Marie (Bernard) Diggins, Hazel (Gerry) Stanton, Phyllis (Donnie) Cameron; brothers, Ernest (Edna) England, Francis, Thomas, Harry, Berkley England; brothers-in-law, John Hurdell, Willard and Calvin Grant; sisters-in-law, Lillian Smith and Addie Cox and son-in-law, James (Sunny) MacDonald. Visitation will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Family Flowers only please. Rev. Evelyn Knorr and Rev. Jim Chisholm will officiate the funeral service to be held 2 p.m., Wednesday from St. James Anglican Church, Rte. 344, Middle Melford. Burial in Hadleyville United Church Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Florence’s name to St. James Anglican Church, Hadleyville United Church Cemetery or Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Florence’s family wish to thank all the paramedics, physicians, nurses, Home Care, and hospital and nursing home staff for the wonderful care given to Florence over the past number of years.
