It is with heavy hearts the family of Betty announce her passing at the VG Site, QE II, after a two year battle with leukemia, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of late John Angus MacDonald and Sara Ann (MacIsaac) MacDonald of Long Point, Inverness Co.
She moved to Halifax at a young age and was employed with the Provincial Government, most recently with the Dept. of Health, retiring in 2011.
Betty enjoyed nature and found pleasure in gardening, music, painting, baking and family gatherings.
She was a member of St. Benedict Parish, where she was a member of the Ladies Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a member of the Children of Mary at St. Agnes Parish.
She is survived by sisters, Ann MacDonald, Halifax; Marilyn (Hugh) Webb, Antigonish; Alice (Leo) Young, Tantallon; brothers, Sandy (Susan) MacDonald, Long Point; Steve (Helma) MacDonald, Antigonish; also many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by a brother in infancy.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
Funeral Mass at St. Andrews Parish, Judique on Monday Dec. 8th at 11 a.m. with Father Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parish Cemetery Fund or QE II Hematology Dept. - Day Unit. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
