Obituary
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister and grandmother, Helen Maude England (nee Clancy) on Friday, February 27, 2015, in the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre Infirmary, Halifax, at the age of 73 years. Mom was born in Antigonish, on September 29, 1941, to the late Helen (Wylde) and Pierce Clancy.
While mom worked briefly & periodically over the years, it was her home that was her greatest focus, where she created a warm and loving environment for her husband and three children. She lived in Bedford in recent years but never forgot her childhood roots in the Town of Mulgrave. She was particularly fond of her spiritual home at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church where she was actively involved in the ACW group in her younger years.
Mom had a passion for baking, crafts and in particular knitting and embroidery. In later years, she enjoyed working on her word puzzles and listening to country music. But her true passion remained with being a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and her dog, Ben.
Mom is survived by her children, Sandy (Kathleen), Cochrane Alberta; Howard and Wendy (Craig) Michaud, and grand-daughters, Paige and Lauren Michaud, all of Bedford. She is also survived by her sister Carol England; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Parks & Lorna Josey and brothers-in-law, Preston, Edward and Ralph England. She was predeceased in 2009 by her husband, Albert (Teddy); grand-daughter, June-Marie Michaud; as well as her sisters-in-law, Rena Boyle & Calestine England and brothers-in-law, Howard, Earl and Sandy England.
Visitation & celebration of mom’s life will take place in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury on Thursday, March 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with funeral at 11:00a.m. on Friday, March 6, from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave, with Rev. Evelyn Knorr officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial to take place at a later date.
Our family would like to thank mum’s family friend & personal care giver of 14 years, Kay Swinamer as well as Drs. Elena Swift & Nick Giaconantonio and the nurses on Cardiac Care Unit 6.1 at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre for their tireless efforts to ensure that mum received exceptional care during her illness.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
