Thomas John MacLeod - Age 72, Blues Mills, Inverness Co., passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in River Denys, he was the son of the late John Dan MacLeod and Ellen (MacPhail) MacLeod. Tommy worked his entire career at Georgia Pacific, the majority as a heavy equipment operator. He remembered fondly his days operating the "dragline" and the many relationships he developed over the decades with his co-workers. He was a devoted member of Forbes United Church serving in various committees, the Choir, and the roles of Elder and Clerk for many years. He was an original member of the Blues Mills Volunteer Fire Dept, a minor hockey and baseball coach, and longtime member of Sircom Lodge 66. Tommy cheered for the Expos, Blue Jays, and Habs. He was never happier then when sharing a bite with family and friends, out at a ceilidh, or in the company of his five precious, energetic grandchildren. He was a strong man with a gentle soul who loved the simple things in life and continually saw the best in others. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife Patricia, sons, Danny (Giselle, Granddaughters, Abby, Kayla, Jillian); Mark (Lynn, Grandsons, Gregory, Colin); sister, Mary (Charles) Parker; many nieces and nephews and other family members. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brother, James (Edna); sister, Helen (Roddie); infant granddaughter, Megan; and step father, John Dan MacInnis. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel Whycocomagh from 2 - 5, and again from 6 - 9 PM with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 2 from Forbes United Church, River Denys at 11 a.m. with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. Burial to follow in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
