KENNEDY, Arnold Tompkins "Arnie", Age 83 of Guysborough, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Guysborough, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Shea) Kennedy. Arnie was employed with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission for over 30 years. He enjoyed many days working on his Christmas trees and in retirement also took up blueberry farming. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting, fishing and spending time at Nickerson’s Lake. He especially enjoyed harness racing and watching his grandsons’ hockey games. He is survived by his wife of 48 years , Frieda (Hendsbee) Kennedy; children , Alison (Bryden) MacKinnon, Bedford and Jim (Carol) Kennedy, Antigonish; grandchildren , Peter and Andrew MacKinnon, Ryan, Daniel and Barrett Kennedy; brothers, Joseph, Halifax and Arthur, Sydney; sisters, Audrey (Gordon) Harmer and Rita, both of Guysborough; his very close nephew , Art Kennedy and nieces, Kelly, Christine, Karen and Darlene. He predeceased by his brother, William "Billy". The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital and the Milford Haven Home for Special Care for the wonderful care they provided to Arnie. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18 from 2-9 p.m. in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. The funeral mass will held at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough on Saturday, August 19 at 1 p.m. with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Ann’s Cemetery.
