Wood, Mary Catherine - Age 80 years of Port Hawkesbury formerly of Auld’s Cove. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Born in Arichat, on September 11, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Amedée and Theresa (Goyetche) LeBlanc. Catherine worked seasonally at H&R Block until her retirement. She was a devoted parishioner of the St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave serving as a CWL member for more than 40 years. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her granddaughters, trips to St-Anne-de-Beaupré and meeting up with friends for tea. She is survived by her sons, Barry (Janet) Wood, Sydney and Tony (Marion) Wood, Auld’s Cove; granddaughters, Leah (Kevin) Pallard, Dartmouth and Kayla (Drew) Donnelly, Linwood. She is also survived by her sisters, Pauline Forbes, Halifax and Jean Boudreau, Petit-de-Grat; brothers, James LeBlanc and Gerald (Shirley) LeBlanc all of Arichat. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ken Wood, and brother, Paul LeBlanc. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 4 in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Mulgrave. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 5 at 11a.m. in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Rev. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. Family flowers only please.
