DOYLE, Joseph Alexander - Age 78, Whiteside, NS- Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2019 in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston surrounded by family.
He was born in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, son of Theresa MacDonald (Morash) and Edward James Doyle.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine Doyle (Smith) Whiteside, NS; children, Edna Jane Doyle (Michael Marryatt), Port Hawkesbury, NS; Joan Doyle (Tammy Doucette) Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Joseph Doyle (Sophie Hubert) Halifax, NS; Natasha Senuk (Lance Senuk) Port Hawkesbury, NS; and Carmie Doyle (Cyril Roach) Evanston, NS; Sonya Jesso (Charles Jesso) Port Hawkesbury, NS.
Grandchildren, Juston Ryan (Cortni Engler) (father John Ryan) Fort McMurray, Alberta; Garett Doyle (Kristine Landry) Fort McMurray, Alberta; Adam Doyle (Dakota Conrad), Keighan Dorton and Carissa Dorton (father Kevin Dorton) Port Hawkesbury, NS; Euan and Aiden Doyle, Alex and Jeanne Hubert Halifax, NS; Campbell Young and Caden Jesso Port Hawkesbury, NS; James Alex and Caitlyn (Papa's Girl) Landry (father Scotty Landry) Evanston, NS
Great-grandchildren: Xavier Doyle Fort McMurray, Alberta; Aubree Doyle Port Hawkesbury, NS; and Londyn Ryan Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Siblings: Peggy Leonard; Gloria McNamara (Paul); Hughie John McDonald (Levina); Tina Marinich (Richard) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Also close family Richard and Sue Kelly Edgartown, Massachusetts and good friend, Patricia MacLeod and the late Emerson.
Brother/Sister-In-Law: Angus Smith (Pauline); Collie Smith; Donald James Smith; and Karen Gillis.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward James and Theresa; Step-father Angus MacDonald; sister, Patsy Howlett; niece Oressa Meheriuk; Grandson James Terence Ryan; and close family friend C.R. Leonard.
Joey worked for the Department of Transportation at the Canso Causeway tollbooths for 26 years. He wasthen a stay at home husband/father. He was an amazing father, husband, grandfather and friend. His life revolved around his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Caitlyn and and their dog Daisy. He enjoyed any time spent with his family who always came first to him and his wife Christine was his world. He was known for always making jokes and making up songs with his grandchildren. He was a loving and humble man who would do anything for anyone.
Special thanks to all of the nursing staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital in the ER Dept and the Nursing Floor, Dr. Collins and all of the hospitalists involved in his care and to Nancy Cameron RN, you all showed so much love and support to our whole family and it will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. A wake will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, NS. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home with a small reception to follow. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial Donations in Memory of Joseph can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Palliative Care Society at the Strait Richmond Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
